MTM designed center channels have proven problematic with considerable interference between drivers and often poor and irregular dispersion from the high frequency unit. Has Golden Ear taken special steps to correct these problems in the center channel section of the SC3D? I understand that the outer drivers in the L/R channels have been placed in a way to eliminate or reduce interference between the left and right channels. Have similar steps been taken to address similar center channel problems designed in the MTM configuration?

Yikes... not well designed ones. With appropriate selection of crossover point, driver distances relating to the particular drivers dispersion patterns and frequency response, the combing and interference effects of the side by side drivers can be properly controlled. Just for fun I will pass this on to our engineering team to see if they'd like to make our heads spin with a technical response.

By the way, after all the technical stuff is discussed to death, hearing is believing... have you read the reviews? :-)

The technical stuff would be very interesting to me, as I'm inclined that way (I was an EE a lifetime ago.) I understand that Performance Audio in San Francisco is one of your dealers, and will go there to hear this unit if they have it in stock.

Thanks,

Wes

Please do, they should have one setup for you to listen to in stereo and surround. I'll post to this thread if the engineering team graces us with a reply :-).
