I'm trying to decide which GE ceiling speakers would be best to extend my existing 10 year old 5.1 system to 5.1.2 for Atmos. I have GE Triton 2s, a SuperSat 50C and SuperSat 3 rear surrounds. My room is 13.5'w x 15d x 8h. The MLP is 4' from the back wall. I am looking at adding 2 ceiling height speakers. Which GE model would be the best fit? I am leaning toward the Invisa 650, thinking the room might be too small for 7000s. Or would 652s be best in this small setting?

Hi John O, In your application, a pair of Invisa 650s would work quite well as your Atmos speakers. When setting up these speakers, I would recommend placing them approximately 1-2 feet in front of the listening position - and roughly 7-8 feet apart from each other. I would have no hesitations with using the Invisa 650s in this system.

With that said, you could always "kick it up a notch" and go with the Invisa HTR7000s. The HTR7000s would produce a fuller, richer sound - as well as more bass, and since they play at a 30 degree angle to the ceiling, they'll do a great job of aiming the sound effects at the listeners. The Invisa HTR7000s would, however, work better when placed a bit further away from the main listening position. Ideally, I'd recommend placing them approximately 4 feet in front of the main listening position - and roughly 7-8 feet apart.

Since the Invisa SP 652s are dual channel speakers, I wouldn't recommend using them in this application.

Happy Listening!

Thank you for the quick and straight forward response. A ceiling fan precludes the 7000s, so I will go with the 650s. Given all the sometimes conflicting info about speaker choices and placement, I very much appreciate being able to get your expert advice. Now I can move forward with confidence. Thanks again!
