file SPS back boxes?

Do the back boxes on the SPS really improve sound or are they just to limit sound transmission?

In my case, I have 10" behind the speakers which are filled with insulation(cotton from recycled jeans). Are the back boxes still valuable there?

A back box will never improve the sound, just the opposite. The only purpose is to limit sound transmission to adjacent spaces.
