Per the manual, I know I need 2” clear from the cutout to any obstructions for the MPX and HTR7000 wings, but I was wondering if they will handle the double 5/8” drywall thickness that is planned, or if I need to have a larger hole in the first layer to accommodate the wings.

Will it handle 3/4” MDF also?

Thanks,
Robert

The lock arms are not large enough to handle double drywall, you would need a 2" larger hole on the first (inner) layer to accommodate the lockarms. The 3/4" MDF is a maybe, I think the lockarms will open far enough to accommodate another 1/8". I would suggest trying a piece of MDF on a sample at your local dealer to be sure.

The MPX will handle the 3/4” MDF.

I have the MPX’s at home waiting on finishing my basement. Had fun cutting out the 3/4” MDF, but was able to put in and had room to spare like for a thin veneer. It looks like there is room up to 1 1/8” actually.
