I messed around quite a bit yesterday, trying the various options. I have discovered that to me, what sounds the best is setting my 3+’s to small, crossed over at 80hz, running lfe cables to both 3+’s and my sub, and setting my lpf for lfe at 90 (this I’m still tinkering with, I like 80 and 100 equally for different reasons so I’ve split the difference for the time being). This makes my tritons come alive in a way that they did not before when set as large.

My assumption now is that the way they were set up before was pushing them too hard at the levels I like to listen (loud) and squeezing out the dynamics.

I have found that my Triton Ones do not "come alive" in the mid and upper ranges unless I play them at louder volumes. I listen to mostly classical music, but within the classical genre, I listen to a broad variety of music, including full orchestra, choral, vocal, small ensembles and instrumental soloists. My descriptive word for my Ones at louder volumes is that they "Sing".

At the louder volumes, I almost never want additional bass - hence my desire to be able to separately control the bass enhancement.

I agree with Rick that what sounds the best to you with the gear and options available is the right way to go.
