Can you tell us which amp, I went to his site and he has quite a few? Is it a single ended triode and IF so, Which power tube does it use? I don't see any tubes listed on his descriptions????
Did you play it with your Mc pre-amp?
I see in your description below that yours is a tube pre amp?
Seems like you are saying it was a little limited in terms of muscle for Rock?
I bet some songstress like Norah Jones sounds sweet as can be?
Would love to hear more about this, and is sure is great for you to have a friend that will bring his expensive amp over for a listen.

Oh, I see, with more reading, that they are not tube amps. Just using that single ended terminology threw me.
Still, I can imagine it sounded great.
