Thanks Cobe for your detailed response. Puts few things in perspective for me.

T Cobe wrote: Based on your intended use, the T2+ may be sufficient. You certainly wouldn't regret the T1s and I don't anticipate a T1 upgrade based on our Moderators feedback, though they may have a new model speaker. In any case, it will not likely be a T1 replacement or at the same price point. Based on the size of your room, the T1s may be a better option.

In terms of what order to purchase your new gear, I'd put all of your money into speakers first. All of the GET speakers are efficient enough for an AVR to drive. As long as your not cranking the volume to the point where the amplifier in the AVR is at clipping, you won't damage your speakers. As Rick indicated, further upgrades in your electronics would be rewarded. If you can swing it, I would go with the front 3 speakers first. I'd go for the SCXXL if it's within your budget. The center channel is your most important speaker for theater use.

I need to listen T1 before making the choice between T1 and T2+. If i do go with T2+ then I can get the SCXXL. However I am thinking the SCXXL will go better with T1 and SCXL will go better with T2+. No scientific basis for my reasoning but its what I have observed by reading various posts.

Sadly my AVR only has subwoofer pre-outs and no 5.1 or L/R pre-outs. So if I have to add an amp then the receiver has to be upgraded and a new amp added.

T Cobe wrote: Another option would be to get a high quality receiver and an integrated amplifier with home theater bypass to power your Triton towers. That would be more economical, take a significant load off of your AVR, and give you great music performance when the occasion calls for it. Your local GET dealer should be able to walk you through these options.

Can you please provide some examples of such an equipment? I haven't explored this and will be happy to research.

Thanks for all your help. This is an amazing forum!

Sourabh Deb,

Glad the forum is proving helpful! The folks here are great and it's a very friendly place to ask questions. We don't get a lot of trolls around here.

Regarding the SCXXL, it will be a sonic match for the T1 or T2+. If I were building a theate setup, it would be the first speaker I would purchase. I started with the SCXL and two Aon 3 speakers for my front three channels and then started saving for my T1s. I would have went with the SCXXL, but it wasn't available at the time. The SCXL is a good speaker, but the balanced crossovers found in the XXL, T1s, T5s, T3+, and T2+ speakers create another level of transparency that I really enjoy. To the SCXL's credit, there are times I forget to set my T1s to home theater bypass and I don't realize it for a bit. If the SCXL can trick me into thinking all three of my front channels are active, it's doing a pretty good job! :)

Getting a good AVR and an integrated amp is a good solution for both home theater and music. I really like Anthem's MRX line of AVRs but truly there are a lot of great sounding options. Marantz also sounds very good. In terms of a good integrated amp, there are also a lot of options. I have liked the sound of Hegel with GET speakers. The H-80 may be a good match with an AVR in terms of power output. Some other great options are the Parasound Halo Integrated Amplifier and the Peachtree Nova 150. Your GET dealer will likely have a few integrated amps on hand to compare. I'd match up the AVR and integrated amp for a demo to make sure they play nice together.

Just a few thoughts to consider. Demo as many options as you can first hand and pick what works best for you. Any combination of GET speakers and a reasonably good quality AVR is going to give you a great theater experience. From there, any investment you make in your electronics will be rewarded with even better sound quality.

Cheers,

T Cobe
