Hello,

I'm about to upgrade my HT system, I have a room that is ~ 8' x 17' x 30' in my finished daylight basement (drywalled with wood floors), which connects to another room of similar size. For my AVR I'm considering either the new Cambridge CX200/120 or the Anthem MRX-710.

This room will mostly be used for movies but I'd like to listen to music also. For my center channel I'll go with the SuperCenter XL. I'm trying to decide on what Tritons to go with for my fronts... Is it really possible to go with Triton 2 and no subwoofer? What's the realistic fq range on the Triton 2 (I've read that the GoldenEar stated fq range is exaggerated quite a bit?) and how important is it for movies that I have good sound levels in the 20-30Hz range? or would it be better to go Triton 5 with a separate subwoofer?

I'm also wondering whether to go for SuperSat 3/50/60 vs Aon 2/3? The SuperSat route might work best so I can wall mount, but will I be able to get the SuperSat levels to match well with Triton 2 up front?

Can you offer me any suggestions/recommendations?

Thanks!

Center: SuperCenterXL
Surrounds: Aon 2s
L/R Mains and Sub: Triton 2s -or- Triton 5s with a ForceField5

Just my suggestion. There are a lot of ways to build a great GET system with $5k and none of them would be wrong or bad.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Ok....bear with me here. This is gonna sound a little strange, but with everything I have read...I just have a feeling about this.

Anthem MRX 310 - $1,200.00
Aon 2 Fronts - $800.00
SuperX Center - $599.00
SuperSat3 Surrounds $500.00
XXL Sub - $2000.00

Grand Total $5099.00 (Only 100.00 over budget)

Yes, it is "only" 80W/c, but its extremely conservatively rated and I have heard this exact amp with the exact speakers I am recommending. And I heard it with the FF5 and FF4. They mix seamlessly. The XXL has to be perfectly insane with this. And the amp inside it does all the heavy lifting power wise...so 80 conservative W/c should be more than enough for all the other 5 channels as the speakers are super efficient.

The rears don't have to be brutes with all the surround info. The Aon2 really sing with that Anthem unit....and they sound quite nice as well. The SuperX center should be awesome match with the Aons......and now. On to the crowning jewel of the setup ....the XXL. it is what I started the entire build with...and everything else works in concert with it. You will have to wait a few weeks for the sub....

Would love to hear from a moderator on my crazy build and see if my logic makes sense. I have a feeling it would be hard to beat.

Sorry if I wasn't clear... $5,000 is budgeted for just the speakers. I've allocated $2500 for the AVR.
