One caveat, the SuperCenters are the centers suggested to go with the Aons. The SuperSat 3C (or 50C) are fine alternatives, but make sure to locate the sub in the front of the room, as close to center as possible, because the satellite centers need a higher crossover.

Hey Mod,

I was wondering if you could elaborate and explain why the Aon 2 + FF5 combo is the option you'd choose.

Thanks!

I am going to step in here and see how close my answer is to the moderator. If you are using a subwoofer, but the Aon3 and Aon2 have about the same capabilities with bass performance between the two being the real difference. If you are adding a subwoofer that keeps the lower range handled by a more capable unit (the Subwoofer). So if your going to stay on budget...the bigger sub is more of a consideration than the difference between the Aon units.

I have both units the FF3 upstairs in my 2.1 setup in my office using SSat3's as the main speakers. I have the downstairs surround unit 5 of the SSat3's and the FF4.

Let me put it this way. I have heard the setup at the store for the Dolby Atmos setup using the Titan 1's as front, the Titan 2's as rear and the Invisia HTR 7000 doing Atmos duty. The same setup that captured so much attention at the 2014 CEDIA show. Now I am going on a stretch here....but after I dialed in my little SSat3 system I would say I have about 7/10 - 8/10ths the performance at a very serious cost savings. Basically put...the trickledown from the top of the line carries through very nicely to the "bottom of the lineup". I have a fairly good ear...maybe not a "GOLDEN ear"....if you will forgive the pun, but I am absolutely blown away by the performance of the lower end products in comparison to the upper end. The FF4 and the Aon2 should make for a very impressive system I am sure the FF5 would be even crazier.. I actually did the test at the dealer of that exact setup (with the FF4) on an Rotel amp....It sounded very nice.

I think I understand what you are saying.

So basically in either case, the Aon's would probably be crossed over at say 80hz. And above that, the Aon 2 and Aon 3 sound roughly the same. So at the point, below 80hz the more capable FF5 would sound better than the FF4.

Roman, since it sounds like you've heard these speakers in a variety of configurations, which do you think would sound better (price excluded). An Aon 2 + FF5 (with an 80hz crossover) or an Aon 3 + FF5 (with a 60hz crossover). In other words, within the 60-80hz range, which do you think could handle that more capably, the FF5 or the Aon 3?

If I were buying one of the combos you presented today price being no object I would go for the Aon2 + FF5 (or even the XXL that will be coming out in a few months)

www.avsforum.com/forum/89-speakers/18535...-xxl-ces-2015-a.html

Read for yourself about the sub and when he heard it with the sound-bar he thought he was listening to the Triton ones.

I don't care the price...money not an object I still wouldn't buy what was not functional.

I have also heard some reviewers out there that have heard BOTH Aons and still prefer the Aon2.

So unless you have a deadline to meet, I would wait for the XXL to come out and try the Aon2's with the FF5 and the XXL and buy what sounds best.

Hope this helps.
