Hey All,

New Triton Three+ owner here. I was wondering if the onboard amplifiers reduce the load on the system's power amp (say vs. a Triton 5 or 7), and essentially send all of the power to the midrange and tweeter, or is the power and volume delivered to those drivers the same regardless of presence of the Triton's amp? I'm trying to get a basic understanding of what's happening in the crossover, amps, etc.... Also, how do the powered speakers deal with being played when not powered on?

Any insight is appreciated :-)

Sorry for the delayed reply, apparently this got lost in the shuffle.

The answer to your question is yes, the onboard amplifier reduces the requirements on the driving amplifier dramatically compared to a system where the driving amplifier needs to also power bass frequencies.

They don't deal with it very well when not powered on. You would get sound from the midrange and tweeter, but very little if any sound from the bass drivers. Whatever little bass may be present won't sound "right".
