Hi Guys,

Well, it's been a year with the Triton 3 + and SS and SS Center and I have to say that I am very impressed and satisfied. I'm in the market for a sub, but still doing some research and looking for something to properly compliment the set-up I have without drowning out the quality these speakers let out :)

Question about equalizer settings for each speaker. I am currently running all speakers on "flat" and have not modified anything through the amp, the preset line is flat down the middle; 0 db. What would be the optimal setting for each speaker? I know this is a VERY vague question and there are a million other variables to consider like room specifics, speaker placement, etc., but I wanted to know what you guys have them at. I read on this web site and seen some posts that mention the best results is a flat preset line.

My bass gain on the back of the Tritons 3 +s is set at the 12 o'clock position with an LFE connection to the amp.

I don't want to screw anything up, I really like the quality and sound I am getting from GET speakers right now, I just was tinkering and wanted some advice from you guys, if possible.

Please let me know.

Thanks!

Marco M.

Hi Marco M,
I think the best answers are FLAT, whatever sounds best to you and FLAT.
You are on the right track,
Have fun with it though, tinker around and see if some setting sounds better to you.
There are no wrong answers.
God Bless,
Wayne

Hey, Marco

I'm with you. GEt's are the first and only speakers I have owned that I haven't wanted to tinker with the EQ, usually turning up bass, turning down treble to damp harshness.

I haven't been tempted to run other than flat with mine, and have settled on bass settings pretty close to recommended start points (for T3+'s, that's the 12 o'clock position you're using!).

Listening preferences do vary, but I think you're in the zone where the GEt's can best shine! They're already so well voiced they don't need EQ help, IMO.

Re subs, matching voicing/bass control/musicality with the other (GEt) speakers is critical. It has to blend together. You don't want/need to be distracted by a sub that doesn't blend perfectly with your current speakers. My input (others may disagree), is that the best way to do that is to audition the GEt sub line, find what works for your budget and listening tastes. My own decision is that I just won't add a different speaker brand to the absolutely gorgeous, seamless sound field my GEt speakers give me. Haven't had that before, and won't give it up now that I have it.

Good luck, and happy listening!

Thanks guys, appreciate it. I will tinker around some more, but I guess the flat option will be optimal for these speakers.

As for the sub, still looking, but my first choice will always be a GET sub, they will match up perfectly with the rest of the system...Although a nice 18 inch Cerwin Vega sub would do wonders for movies, rock and disco music lol

Have a great night!

Great Marco,
I would never say anything against the GEt subs, but I have not heard, cannot get to hear the newest ones.
BUT, IF you are going with anything other than GEt, I would recommend listening to the SVS SB16 Ultra before buying a Cerwin Vega. The SVS subs are also cost conscious, AND they have a balanced input which the GEt subs do not.
God Bless,
Wayne

Hi Marco. I agree with you and the others on the thread that ideally you want to use the flat 12 o'clock position. I *think* even GET would recommend flat and only to use the bass control when and if necessary. The aforementioned said, in my particular case the bass controls are easily accessible. By this I mean that not only can I operate the control with my hand, but I can "see" the dotted indicator marks. So, in the rare instances when the source material warrants more or less bass, at least I can easily set both speakers to the same non 12 o'clock value. Only the 12 o'clock value has a "catch" at the center position. The other settings do not.
