I found a used pair of Triton Ones for sale. I drove over 600 miles to get them, took a big risk, but I think it paid off. The only issues with them are that both grills have dents in them and one sock cloth is ripped in two places, very small. Otherwise, they are like-new in every other way that I can tell. I mean not a scratch on them, and beneath the socks, the amp back plates, etc. - they look absolutely perfect. And they sound like everything is fully intact.

Now, I haven't set them up properly, but I did listen to some music after I swapped out my T2s with these T1s. My initial reactions are:

1.) They sound a little bit cleaner
2.) They sound like they have a little more edge (maybe crispiness is the right term, or maybe it's accurracy)
3.) They sound like they are a little fuller, a little bigger
4.) They appear to have more bass, or maybe the bass is a tad tighter

Notice I'm using the words "little" here because I cannot quite place my finger on it exactly, and I'm not exactly doing a fair comparison, even though I have both T1 and T2s now in my possession. The T1s/T2s are not setup for A/B testing. and I have zero room treatments, which is probably not the best for these.

Needless to say, I think I will keep the T1s and then sell the T2s. I mean how could I not?

Murphyslaw1978,

I'm disappointed you haven't updated your signature block yet... Congrats on the T1s! I read your other posts on this as well. 600 miles! Man, that is some determination. Based on the cosmetic damage, it sounds like a T1 rescue. They're in a better place now where they'll get the respect and treatment they deserve.

Great looking room as well! Thanks for sharing the pics. I'd bet that one ends up on a GET Facebook post. I see you've got your subs painted. I hope they look as great in person as they do in the picture and sound even better. Between those and the T1s, I can't imagine how much bass you must be able to crank out.

I know what you're saying about it being difficult to describe the difference between the Ones and Twos. First off, the Twos are phenomenal speakers and I hate that my description is going to make them sound any less than that but listening to the Ones is like taking a thin blanket off of the Twos. The T1s are just more transparent with more detail, clarity, and presence than the T2s. The cliche in audio is used frequently, but in this case, lifting a veil is fitting. The T1s build on everything that is great about the T2s and add nothing harmful. Usually when you mess around with something great you end up doing more harm than good. Thankfully, this is not one of those occasions.

Enjoy the new speakers! I definitely agree with your thought process on fixing up the cosmetic imperfections. In that room, the T1s should look as good as they sound!

Cheers,

T Cobe

P.S. How is your in room response? Have you taken any room measurements? I only ask because you mentioned acoustic treatments.
