I am considering buying the triton II's along with SAT60 and two surround spkrs. So I have a couple of questions:

1. What surround speaker would you recommend? We have an open floor plan.. The ceiling is wood and rises from 8' to 12". the distance is about 14 ft from the TV.

2. Woofer: I understand the woofer is built into the triton: I have read one of the issues with the speaker is that, the woofer goes where the speaker is, so it may not be great for optimal placement. How does goldenear Triton's work with that issue?

3. Off center audio; My room is about 14 x 17" plus the dining area. I have a sectional sofa that wraps around the room. So some folks will be sitting to the right of the screen and more towards one speaker while some will be sitting directly in front. How good is the sound stage for these speakers?

4. I am using an MRX500 Anthem receiver. Is that enough power or how should I adjust the Tritons to maximize their sound quality?

i have read such wonderful reviews about the Tritons and will go to hear them this Friday. So any suggestions or input is very much appreciated.

Thanksagain

Hi - here's some answers, by the numbers:
  1. SuperSat 3's are suggested for surrounds/rears;
  2. The Triton Two is a full range speaker and as such will behave like any full range speaker in the same room in the same position. The unusual and nice feature is the bass level control that allows you to adjust for some of the issues associated with room placement (too close to corner - no problem, dial the bass down a bit, etc.)
  3. Exceptional off axis performance, one of the best in this regard (pointed out in the reviews, especially the Sound & Vision product of the year review);
  4. That's probably plenty of power, follow the directions in the owners manual to properly setup your speakers and configure the Anthem's bass management system. If you are unsure how to do this, get your dealer to assist;
Thanks for your interest - have fun at the demo!

thanks the Anthem comes with the ARC sound room calibration. Should I use it when I get the triton's. Also not sure how to control the bass from the reciever and/or the speaker. How does the crossover work? I know theseare simple questions but I don't have any experience in audio

The Anthem room correction is great if you use it sparingly. Once setup and calibrated, use the volume control on the back of the speaker to adjust to "taste" and source material. Don't use bass controls on the receiver, ever. Follow the setup instructions in the Triton manual for setting your bass management system up properly (or ask your dealer for help). The sub "channel" volume control on your receiver will not function in the typical TritonCinema Two setup where your are setting subwoofer to "None".

Regarding ARC (these are my opinions and suggestions only):
  1. Set the maximum EQ frequency to somewhere between 250 and 500 Hz, do not accept the default 5000 Hz.;
  2. Make sure the bass level control is set for "accurate" response (typically about 9-10 o'clock range on the control) before you run ARC, you can always turn it up later if you want more;
Have fun.

Speakers like boundaries for bass reinforcement, the Triton Two no more or less than other speakers.

I would let them play for a day or two before running ARC, but its not a big deal either way. Break-in will not impact the room's effect in any significant way.

Glad to help, thanks for the interest.
