Peter,

Your dealer is going to bring the SCXXL to pair with the T1s to make sure it's awesome? That's pretty much a no brainer. It will most definitely be awesome. You might as well write the check out when you receive the SCXXL for the demo. Will it sound great with your current surrounds? Yes, it will, but it would sound better with GET all around. Just an opinion here from the peanut gallery.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Once again, T Cobe has nailed the issue. I don't doubt that the front and center GEt's will sound great. I'm still a fan of all GEt speakers. Their meshing in a unified sound field is the best I've ever heard. If there's a way to test fronts/GET and surrounds other vs all GEt I'd recommend auditioning all GEt somehow. I agree with T Cobe's opinion from the peanut gallery.. the all GEt sound field is worth chasing.

Peter,

I've had the Aon 3's as surrounds and currently use T5s. My fronts are T1's and the SCXXL. I prefer the T5s over the Aon 3s, their sound is more "robust" and they have a wider sound field in my opinion. I felt the Aon 3s were not as forgiving in terms of placement.

I will be upgrading from 5.2 to 7.2.4 in Oct/Nov by adding in wall Invisa MPX for the surrounds (T5s will be moved to rear surrounds where there is no back wall for in walls) and four HTR 7000s for the ceiling channels. If you are still curious I can update you on the Aon 3/T5's/MPX in a couple months when I finish up.

Be well,
John

T Cobe, Rick, thanks for the thoughts.
Yes the dealer is going to see if he has a new-ish SCXXL that I'd buy if it sounds good rather than shlepping back and buying a different one. I plan to have my check book ready. :-).
Then I could buy 2 x T1s to put back into my 2 channel.

Hmm, looks like the superstats are low profile - I could have them horizontally on the 2 side walls. Anyone tried those as surrounds!?

Peter,

The SuperSats would be a good solution, I'm sure. If you're mounting horizontal, make sure you order the center channel versions for proper tweeter dispersion.

Two pairs of T1s under one roof?! That would be sweet! Please keep us posted how things sound.

Cheers,

T Cobe
