So if I have an integrated amp (M10V2) that can push both 4Ω and 8Ω, how do I know what resistance the amp is working at for my 2+'s or One.R's?

Hi nate451, Since the impedance of all loudspeakers is variable function, it’s hard to describe their impedance with a single rating or a single number.

The impedance of any loudspeaker (in this case the Triton One.Rs and Triton Two+s) is a bit more complex than a single number. The impedance presented by a loudspeaker to your main amplifier varies with what frequency the loudspeaker is reproducing. GoldenEar has traditionally advertised their loudspeakers as being compatible with 8 ohm outputs (and they are), however, the average impedance for these Triton towers would normally be in the 4-6 ohm range. The NAD M10V2 amplifier should have no problems driving the Triton One.R or Triton Two+ towers. Happy Listening!

The One.R's impedance is specified as being "compatible with 8 ohms." The solid trace in fig.1 reveals that the impedance magnitude ranges between 3 and 6 ohms for much of the audioband, with a minimum value of 3.1 ohms between 290Hz and 390Hz. Like the original One, the One.R's use of a passive high-pass filter with a low corner frequency means that the electrical phase angle becomes increasingly capacitive below that frequency. Although the impedance magnitude rapidly increases below 100Hz, mitigating the effect of that phase angle, there is still a combination of 4 ohms and –48° at 100Hz, which will require a good 4 ohm–rated amplifier to drive the speaker to acceptably high levels.
