So, recently bought a pair ofTriton 2+. They are awesome. Currently using for just 2 channel stereo with Tidal through my smart tv with optical connection to my B&K Reference 20 with an old Carver M200T. The amp is almost as old as me. From the beginning, I planned on UPGRADING to Denon X3700H. Went to Best Buy to hear it paired with Martin Logan Motion 60 and a song by Pentatonix. Went home and played the same song through my system at home. No comparison. I'm hoping the difference was because of the speakers. I want to build a surround system eventually, any suggestions? Not trying to spend 3k on a new preamp. I think I can stomach building a couple 4ch D class amps. The B&K is super outdated.

So no takers huh? I've always planned on using Denon X3700H as a pre amp for 2 channel duties with a separate amp. The Martin Logan ( closest they had to our speakers) sound no where as good as what I have at home and their music selection sucked. Should I just buy the Denon and take back if I do not like it or does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Monroe, The Denon AVR-X3700H receiver is a fine receiver and should do a good job of driving the Triton Two+ towers. You might try using this receiver by itself (to start) and see - or hear what you think. I do, however, believe you'll want to add a separate power amp to power your front speakers. In this case, I'd suggest using the Denon AVR-X3700H as your pre-amp/processor and adding a separate power amp for your front speakers and center speaker. Power amps from NAD, Marantz, Anthem, and Parasound should work quite well in this application. Happy Listening!

Thank you for the reply. I think it is time to retire the Carver. I'll try out the Denon, has anyone had good luck with proper D class amps and these speakers?

Monroe, a friend of mine who is VERY knowledgeable in all things audio has this to say about the
Living Sound Audio Warp-1 Stereo Amp

"Guys. This class "D" amp is just to good to be true. I AM NOT A DEALER. 150W/ch into 8 ohms, 250W into 4 Ohm Handles from 2 Ohm to 8 Ohm. $1500 list. Needs a 200 hour break in. Have 100 so far and quite impressed. If you own Planars there is a 350W/ ch available for more money. KABOOM"

He has not tried this particular class D amp with Triton's, however, he has heard my system and was impressed.

Others in my audio club are aware of the LSA Warp 1 and vouch for it as well.... especially considering it's price.

I personally have no experience with class D Amos, other than the fact they are used to power the subwoofers in my T Refs.
