When I play music with very low bass content, especially pipe organ, I want to feel the low pipes as well as clearly hear the tones. It is a balancing act, I believe. I can certainly increase the volume and frequency-cutoff settings on my Paradigm Sub to make the low pipe tones rumble, but just a little too much results in a loss of tone.

I have adjusted my Paradigm to primarily support very low bass, while using the Triton Ones bass system to replicate tonal bass. Because my Paradigm and Triton Ones are in a dedicated music-only system, I don't have to worry about compromising settings to accommodate movies LFE signals.

Bass bottom line for me is deep, but tonal and musical bass and not losing the context of the bass sounds within the overall context of the music.

In the case of T Refs, they "rule" bass!!!!

IMO, there are no speakers (T 1s an exception to an extent) that produce the "weight" in the bass department that the T Refs are capable of. Hence the reason many folks with other speaker brands eventually concede and buy one or two external subs
