Well home (took long weekend) for my Birthday today....listening to my system upstairs.

Country music was the soundtrack to all the abuse of my childhood...So I usually avoid it like the plague. But occasionally an artist really cannot be ignored....one of my few country artists that I truly like.



Below is a beautiful slot canyon in the area. My friend Ruben and I braved the fall VERY COLD water to get in there. Up to lower chest in some areas. Had to capture it with the fall leaves adding a different perspective.

Shilts / Headboppin (2006) -- Break the Mold

The British saxophonist whose real name (Paul Weimar) just isn't cool enough for superstardom has had a joyfully steady day job over the past decade as one of the key melodic, grooving ingredients in the post-acid jazz/smooth jazz jam band Down to the Bone. Still, it's borderline criminal that his 2001 solo debut, the funk masterpiece See What Happens -- which earned him a Best New Artist nomination at the now defunct National Smooth Jazz Awards -- didn't shoot him to solo stardom. Hopefully that will change with this similarly jamming debut for ARTizen, a label partly owned by fellow smooth funk masters Richard Elliot and Rick Braun. True to its name, HeadBoppin's ten tracks -- some featuring off-the-wall titles indicative of Shilts' cheeky personality -- will get you dancing, and if you're driving, at least your head will move and groove (which is his intention).

Just thinkin' about you playing these on future T Ref's and getting goosebumps all over again....
