I'm about to upgrade from T-1s to T-refs. Have any readers done this, and were you satisfied with the improvement? I'd be selling the T-1s, possibly on consignment.

I'm surprised you haven't had any responses. It was a definite worthwhile improvement going to the T Refs for me. I use my system for both two channel and home theater, so I replaced the side surrounds with the Ones. Maybe the four subs also tightened up the bass in the room for HT. I also put SVS isolation feet under all of them for a reasonably priced added sonic improvement.

Yes, I've upgraded from the t ones to the t-refs back in 2017. Definitely worthwhile and a tremendous improvement. There's simply no comparison between the t ones and the t-refs.

Thanks blistn2 & GDHAL,
I've so far been blown away by the improved sound experience! Before I upgraded to the T-Refs I first upgraded my speaker and power cables to Synergistic Research Foundation series with the T-1s and that difference was an order of magnitude improvement. Adding the T-Refs to the mix put it over the top for me! Just beautiful sound. I'll look into the SVS isolation feet next, as I had the T-1s on spikes previously.

Glad you're enjoying the upgrade. I've also heard people comment on the SQ improvement that Gaia II feet produce. I haven't heard any comparisons between them and SVS. I think it would be a real pain unless you had two sets of speakers set up. Since I used the SVS feet under my T1s, Trefs, and center channel, SVS was definitely more budget friendly. I really couldn't tell much of a difference under my center, but it kept the tweeters at the same level. I have a custom rack/stand that has all the tweeters at the same height. Of course, and inch or two probably wouldn't make that much difference.

I'm curious at what speaker cables you used before the SR?

When I bought my system in 2017, the owner of the audio store was retiring and selling off his inventory. I was able to get my McIntosh C2600 tube preamp as a demo, and also the T-1s. I think I got a good buy. On top of that, he had the remains of a spool of Transparent 12-2 cable that he just threw in at no additional cost. That was the system's speaker cable for 3-4 years of deep listening. It wasn't until earlier this year when I had a chance opportunity to listen to a stratospheric sound system and speak with the owner about my equipment. He keyed into the importance of speaker cable as the lowest hanging fruit for system upgrades. That led me to Peter at The Cable Co., who steered me to the SRs. We were slackjawed to hear the difference, even before the break-in period.
