Just got Live. Die.Repeat. and played the opening scene. Wow! Now that is bass! The chair shook, I shook. I used an iphone app called Audio Spectrum analyzer that graphs 10-20k HZ band. I can't guarantee it's accuracy, but it sure showed a big spike below 20 HZ. That bass is about as deep as I've heard in a movie. Impressive! I'll play the remainder of the movie tonight. I'd call that scene demo material.
I can't speak to how your options 1 and 2 would sound playing that same scene, but my set up sure killed it.

I think I saw in one of your posts that you don't use Audyssey room correction. Do you use anything to calibrate your room? Thanks again Rick!

I tried Audyssey, but it couldn’t deal with powered Triton’s built in subs. I did however use some of the recommended distance settings for subs, which were different from the settings for those same speakers as non sub channels. I presumed those differences were to deal with room modes, and it does do that.
Also, bass nulls can be very different room to room, so YMMV.

The SVS 16 Ultra would dig a little deeper bass-wise on intro's like the start of Live. Die. Repeat., where sub 20 HZ content is included (rare). But 2 T Ref's equivalent to 2 SuperSub XXL's, with LFE attached, will "shake the room" more. Yes, the room was shaking when I played that scene!
So. option 2 would be amazing also, for bass, and the T1.R would be a step above the T1's. But, for me, it comes down to music/sound quality, whether for pure music, or for all the sound mixes you're likely to play in any format. You can probably tell I'm hooked on the T Ref's. I've heard other GEt combinations (not the T1.R), and the Ref's just mesmerize me.
I'll say again, no bad choices among your 3 options, but I'd lean towards #3 first, #2 second next. I'd want the newer reference technology somewhere in the front L/R speaker mix. Just my opinion.

One logistical question I have for you. For the LFE for your rear Tritons do you run a long cable to the back of the room and then have a Y-splitter followed by two cables to your Tritons or do you have the Y-splitter right at your receiver and then run two long cables to the back of the room and to your Tritons?

Sorry, I just saw this.
I use a distribution amp (a holdover from when I ran LFE to 4 Tritons from one sub out on a previous receiver), so am feeding the two fronts via the amp from sub 1 out and the two rears from sub out 2, so all LFE leads coming from the front via the distribution amp. But you could make the y split for the rears front or back with the same results. Probably easier to split the lead in back to save LFE cable runs.
