I thought I would chime in here.
I have recently upgraded from a triton with with XXL setup to a Tref with ref centre setup.
I have to say the step up is pretty incredible. There is just more presence and power for movies and for music I can spend a lot of time writing about the nuances and improvements I am hearing.
In short I would go your option 3 and go for the t refs. I haven't heard the tone.rs but have heard in this forum that the refs side by side while not night and day are a big step up to the one rs
On a side note you mention you want more power uncertain frequencies. I have mentioned this heaps in here but I use a DEQX processor for my t ref left and right alongside my receiver. The benefit there is I can tweak the bass for home theatre and I normally drag up from 60hz to 100hz to get more punch. It also makes music sound heaps better too
I would be surprised if you needed anymore sub power with triton references let alone having a tone in the rear. I have kept my t ones in the hope I can use them for rears in future but the ref in my apartment is more than enough. You would need a pretty big room to not think that four tritons is enough bass. I would go the t ref cause it is the top of the range and really an end game speaker. You can spend a lot more and not get the top to bottom performance the t refs will give you. Once you have it you can forget about your equipment and just enjoy the movies and music for a long time.
Goldenear is redefining what can be done for a reasonable price to performance. Good luck with your next steps and welcome
