Good question. Others may have experience with LFE cable or splitter upgrades. I've kind of gone with "good " LFE cable and used the distribution amp to provide strong signals at the longer distances to the surrounds, and don't use splitters due to the distribution amp connections. Amazon carries shielded LFE cable from Mediabridge at various lengths.

Other's opinions/suggestions welcome.

Decent splitters are easy to find. Heck, you might even find a step-up model made by AudioQuest!

I thought I would chime in here.

I have recently upgraded from a triton with with XXL setup to a Tref with ref centre setup.

I have to say the step up is pretty incredible. There is just more presence and power for movies and for music I can spend a lot of time writing about the nuances and improvements I am hearing.

In short I would go your option 3 and go for the t refs. I haven't heard the tone.rs but have heard in this forum that the refs side by side while not night and day are a big step up to the one rs

On a side note you mention you want more power uncertain frequencies. I have mentioned this heaps in here but I use a DEQX processor for my t ref left and right alongside my receiver. The benefit there is I can tweak the bass for home theatre and I normally drag up from 60hz to 100hz to get more punch. It also makes music sound heaps better too

I would be surprised if you needed anymore sub power with triton references let alone having a tone in the rear. I have kept my t ones in the hope I can use them for rears in future but the ref in my apartment is more than enough. You would need a pretty big room to not think that four tritons is enough bass. I would go the t ref cause it is the top of the range and really an end game speaker. You can spend a lot more and not get the top to bottom performance the t refs will give you. Once you have it you can forget about your equipment and just enjoy the movies and music for a long time.

Goldenear is redefining what can be done for a reasonable price to performance. Good luck with your next steps and welcome

Update: I ended up getting another set of Triton Ones and a Supercenter XXL used. The price was too good to pass up. So now I have a 5.4 setup with 4 Triton Ones. Holy cow does this setup rock! Huge step up from when I only had the 2 Triton ones. I'm ashamed to say that I'm running this with a 9 year old $500 receiver, but it still sounds awesome. That will probably be my next upgrade and right now I contemplating the Denon X8500H. Hopefully they will replace it soon and it will go on clearance. With as good as this sounds on my crappy receiver I'm wondering if that would be enough without an amplifier. I may try it and see and add an amplifier later if needed. My current speaker upgrade plan is to make a 7.6.4 (maybe 7.6.6?) setup by using the Ones for my side and rear surrounds and getting References for the front and replacing the Supercenter XXL with a Supercenter Reference. That will likely be years down the road and after I have two rows of seating.

Really impressive.
I am doing the same thing as you. 3 days ago ordered 2 pairs of of Triton Ones to make the system 7.2.4.
Triton Ones all around and Supercenter XXL.
The Atmos are the difficult ones as I have a pair o Aon 3 and thinking of adding one more pair to complete the setup.
And for subs i have already 2 PB16s.
