Decision number one might be: Are you more interested in multi-channel movie sound, or in high-quality 2-channel music? Or, are both equally important to you?
THIS WOULD BE ACCOMPLISHED BY AN ANTHEM MRX720?ArthurDaniels wrote: Having recently added a Cambridge Audio 851A 2-channel amplifier to my system, I can report that a dedicated high-quality 2-channel amplifier will significantly improve music - especially when driving GE Triton speakers.
WOULDN'T THE ANTHEM MRX 720 DO THE SAME THING WITHOUT AN ADDED COMPONENT?ArthurDaniels wrote: Being able to use your Triton Fronts for both music and movie watching, while employing a separate 2-channel amplifier, will depend upon being able to pass the front channel outputs from your multi-channel receiver to your dedicated 2-channel amplifier. This capability permits connecting your front speakers to the dedicated 2-channel amplifier for music, and then passing the front L/R signals from your multi-channel receiver to the 2-channel amp when watching movies.

Bottom line: Use this forum to ask for details, consult with your dealer if you trust him to provide unbiased information, or use the Web to research the details.

Yes, I think the Anthem will be the answer to your questions above, but that depends on your evaluation. Have you heard it, auditioned it with speakers like yours?
I don't know anything about the Anthem (had to research it online), it gets good reviews, and is a well respected name.
There are other ways to go besides the Anthem, what have you listened to?
Art is suggesting a different setup because he has different tastes and doesn't care of much about the movie sound like you (and I) do. At least that is my take on what he has said.
The seven channel amps built into the Anthem will mean you do not need other amplifiers until you exceed 7 channels. Getting separate power amps can provide more power and possibly better isolation and sound. But that would mean a considerably greater investment.
If you like the sound with the Anthem, I would say, go for it.
Hope this helps, God Bless,
Wayne

I HAVE HEARD IT, WHAT ARC CAN DO WITH ROOM CORRECTION IS AMAZING. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU CAN HAVE 4 CORRECTED LISTENING MODES: EXAMPLE 1) 2 CHANNEL, 2) MOVIES, 3) ALL CHANNEL STEREO, 4) ANOTHER COMBO. AT THE PRESS OF A BUTTON YOU CAN GO STRAIGHT TO ANY OF THOSE 4. ALSO 140 WATTS/CH (1-5) THEN 60 WATTS (6-7). THESE ARE FOR EACH CHANNEL AS ANTHEM GIVES TRUE POWER RATINGS TO MY KNOWLEDGE. HEARD IT WITH MY T2'S (mrx 710) AND ON T1;S (mrx 720)WayneWilmeth wrote: Twotooneadam12,

OTHER THAN SEPARATES, MARANTZ, WHICH I LIKEDWayneWilmeth wrote: I don't know anything about the Anthem (had to research it online), it gets good reviews, and is a well respected name.

Sounds like a clear winner then. I too like the Marantz, had one of their pre-processors with separate amps. It was really good, just did NOT like the Audyssey room correction. Everyone says ARC beats the pants off of it.
You have heard the 720 with your Ones, did it sound a lot better than the Onkyo?
I would hope so. But if not don't buy it, keep looking.
Let us know what you decide, which way you go?
Getting there is half the fun,
God Bless,
Wayne

It sounds better than the Onkyo, yes. It is 2.5 times the price as well. With far superior DACs and room correction.
Pretty busy this week at work and weekend (I take medical on call).
So next week will be decision time.
Thanks so much to GET family.

I think an Anthem AVR combined with a good integrated amp with home theater bypass would be very smart solution if you use your speakers for both home theater and music. The integrated amp will do better with stereo music and take the amplifier load off of your AVR. It could very well be an addition to your setup later down the road and certainly wouldn't be "needed".
Just my $.02 on the topic. The Anthem AVRs are pricey, but I feel they are worth it. In the end, you need to decide what works and sounds best for you. Others' opinions can help you sort through the various options, but your opinion is the only one that truly matters in the end.
Cheers,
T Cobe
