I've purchased a home that I intend to keep for less than 10 years. I'm concerned about installing ceiling mounted speakers because A) not sure it will add any resale value when I take the rest of my system with me B) I don't really want to leave any of my system behind and C) my ceiling is only 9' so I'm a bit worried about localization issues and flexibility issues of changing the layout of my living room.

I know that direct radiating speakers will result in the best possible experience, but I'd like to be know if Goldenear will pursue reflective solutions for folks like me? My plan was use Triton 1's or the new 2's for my LR mains. So something that would work with those would be outstanding.

Is there anything about these solutions that you can comment on?

That's an interesting question.

Have you considered wall mounting SS3 and angling the tweeters down?

Less invasive, you can take it with you...

I wonder if that would be a good option?
Current System:

Projector - Sony VPL-HW55ES
AVR - Onkyo TX-NR838
Fronts - Triton 2s
Center - SuperCenterXL
Surrounds - SuperSat 3s

Ask me about espresso, I'm an expert at that... I'm just learning about audio!

I've wondered the same thing as Tetrall, but my guess is the dispersion of the speaker would not be ideal. You may be able to angle the SS3 to improve the setup but the sweet spot may still be limited.

If I'm going to attempt external wall or ceiling mount, I would have to hide the wires, I don't want to be hokie about the years that I'm here. I don't want to open up the walls to run truly hidden wires. So I thought a solution as I've seen with other manufacturers (albeit compromised to multiple direct in-ceiling) with "modules" that sit atop existing speakers would be a good solution for my situation.

I'm hoping the moderator will chime in with whatever he is allowed to say.

DBGaither,

GET is pretty tight lipped when it comes to potential future products. I believe Moderator Dude did hint about an alternative Atmos solution some time ago, but that's probably about as much as we're going to get before the product is ready for release. Getting a technical suggestion on the SS3 may still be useful on the forum since there may be other people browsing here that may be interested if this is a viable solution. Besides not wanting to cut holes, some folks may not have the ceiling cavity to support the speaker depth of an in-ceiling speaker.

Moderator Dude, any chance on an update on the reflective Atmos solution or advice on using the SS3 as an Atmos speaker?

Cheers,

T Cobe

Hi all - we will be offering an on-wall/on-shelf universal height channel speaker, to be used either pointing up to reflect off the ceiling, or pointing down if the speaker can be positioned far enough away, or high enough, to get a decent distance to the listener. The SuperSat 3C (or 3 if vertical mounting) is actually perfect for the application. For a variety of (performance) reasons, we are definitely not contemplating an all-in-one/height-channels-on-top type product.

There are some pretty nice solutions for on-wall wiring too, BTW.
