I know GE has demonstrated Dolby Atmos with in ceiling speakers but that is not an option with many of us.

Is GE working on separate add on modules or Atmos enabled speakers?

Could modules sit on top of my Triton 2's?

Thanks for asking!

First off, please read the sticky topic on this forum for some background, if you haven't already.

Next, putting anything on top of our speakers (including your Triton Twos) will most certainly make them sound worse. This is not something that we are going to do. (Sorry for that "duh" moment.) Could we possibly design new models that include height channels? Maybe, but not in our plans at this time as we explore other possibilities beyond our current in-ceiling or on-ceiling solutions.

We would prefer to call these Atmos Enabled speakers something like BOCS (Bounce Off the Ceiling Speakers). So, regarding BOCS, IF your room allows (proper ceiling type and height, which should knock out about 50%), we absolutely don't think they should be on top of your front main speakers. BOCS on top of your rears depends on how you feel about surrounds'/rears' fidelity I guess, and at least that potentially puts the height channel in about the right spot.

Stay tuned for other options from GoldenEar as this new home theater technology takes hold. It is still very early for the home theater Atmos world (limited choices for software and hardware, limited "experience" by listeners, etc.).
