Good move I started with Def Tech 8040. then listened to the GE line. I have all GE now T1's in front, SC XL, SS3's wonderful combo. I am using a Yamaha rx-a1040 for the AVR. Using it mainly as a preamp/processor. When you start looking at adding power I highly recommend Emotiva amps.
The subs in the T2's are really good.
I also listen to Led Zeppelin AC/DC Etc.. Here is a list of some good testers and just good music.

Paula Cole's Tiger from This Fire. reference for bass. Massive bass lines will shake the walls!!
Mobile Fidelity CD of Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms (Mobile Fidelity / Warner),
Diana Krall Live in Paris "a case of you" great live recording. Her piono is mic'ed
Barres Phillips and David Hollands 'Music from 2 bases' odd music but a decent bass tester
Miles Davies " kinda blue" great jazz clean recording.
Killer Queen A tribute to Queen is a really good CD

Hey Tetrall,
That is great news, so happy for you!!!!
Great recommendations Splash51.
Tetrall, what will you be playing your music on? I use a Oppo 95 and that way I can play ANY kind of disc from CD to DVD-A to SACD to Blu-ray. I HIGHLY recommend you listen to some of these higher resolution discs, and the ones with theses things called "moving pictures" are really wonderful!!!!
As for classical music (I like the other stuff too, a LOT) but you asked:
Have you checked out the 3 threads here of what is Currently playing (mostly Anthem's smooth jazz) but other stuff is mentioned on there, Which Blu-rays we are playing, mostly movies, but there are some great concerts recommended there, and Timeless music.
I am sure you can find a million recommendations on wonderful classical CDs, like I just got Daniel Hope's "Spheres" which is a bit more modern but really awesome, and there are millions more.
BUT IF you can play a DSD SACD (like the Oppo can) then do yourself the favor of getting Bruno Walter's Shubert 8 (Unfinished sym) and Beethoven 5th sym. This disc belongs in any classical library. Turn it up!!!
TACET make some really fun and great sounding surround sound classical recordings where you sit in the middle of the instruments. Recommended IF you like surround sound.
But I have to say, and sorry to those who have read this before, but the old RCA Living Stereo recordings done in 3 Channel, OLD but GREAT music and great artists really well recorded and the music coming from across the front of the room with left, right and center all playing the whole orchestra just blows my socks off. Try this one "Rhapsodies", it will play in normal stereo, but is the BEST in surround sound (only the front 3 speakers will play).
Otherwise I MOST HEARTILY RECOMMEND classical on Blu-rays!!!
To me it does not get any better than being able to see the musicians playing while hearing awesome music.
Let me just recommend one to get you started and let me know if you get hooked like I have, we can help you find more.
Daniel Barenboim with the Berlin Philharmonic play Wagner, Elgar and Brahms. This girl plays cello on the Elgar that will tear your heart out.
Other great Blu-rays and concert DVDs like Eric Clapton, Counting Crows and David Gilmour are already recommended elsewhere.
Enjoy getting your system set up and running and enjoy the tunes!!!!
Hope this helps a little,
God Bless,
Wayne
God bless the child that's got his own.

There you go Bro Anthem, I knew we could find some common ground.
I like #25 The Koln Concert by Keith Jarrett is quite good!

I gotta go, I am learning a LOT about medicine and health providers.
Watching "NURSE 3D"

God Bless,
Wayne
