Which headphones in the $300 and under category would you choose for 2-channel music?
I'm interested in what forum members (moderator included) use and also what they 'wish they had'.
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

Hey Bro Anthem,
I would recommend Grados in that price range. I have ther Grado RS 1s with a little bitty Brocksieper EarMax Pro headphone amp. It is OTL and has tubes: www.brocksieper.com/en/earmax_pro_eng.html. Pretty sweet setup all in all. BUT, what I am dreaming of having is the HiFiMan HE-500 orthodynamic headphones with a bigger, more powerful amp. But that is out of your stated price range and my real price range.
But we can dream.
The idea of having great cans is for late night listening, being able to crank it up and not bother others in the house with you.
But when I finish my home theater, my man cave, MAYBE I will be able to close the door and crank it up even late night, and not bother anybody else. IF that works out, doubtful though it may be, then I will not be needing the cans so much.
My T 2s will do me, I hope.
Hope this helps,
God Bless,
Wayne
God bless the child that's got his own.

Hi gang - not a big headphone guy (never had the need for quiet when I wanted to listen I guess), can't embrace the "image in your head" presentation.

That said, I have a pair of Stax electret headphones I love. I also have had great experiences with Sennheiser and everyone tells me the HiFiMan headphones mentioned in this thread are the best over-ear thing going right now. I do not care for in-ear, but I have used the high-end Shure and found them to be quiet excellent for that category.

I am anxiously awaiting the GoldenEar headphones...
