I was back in the States last month for a visit, and I was looking for a mono amp for my home theater for the surround channel. Just one monoblock would let me have my Mondial Aragon 4004 MkII free for another use, another system--maybe with the Triton 3s.
I just wanted a cheap, efficient mono amp, I was looking for a Class D amp, small and cool running for my home theater in Thailand. I found this new one on the internet, The IQ M300.
www.iqaudiocorp.com/ It was not really cheap, but not too bad.
But when I called and talked to their representative, he was very helpful and knew a lot. I ended up buying 2 monoblocks, 150W ea (300W into 4 ohms, which is why they call it 300). They were $1500 for the pair. They have balanced and unbalanced inputs, a 12V trigger and good looking "torque" binding posts and come with a decent looking power cable too. They are not big at all.
Sometimes I do stupid things like this. I have not heard them nor heard of them, so what was I thinkin??(in the USA, you can buy and listen and return them for full money back in 30 days if you don't like them). But I will try them when I get my home theater built. IF they sound great I can use them in my second system with Triton 3s, they are small and can sit behind the speakers on the floor. IF they sound REALLY GREAT (likely not, but then again, who knows?) I will use them in my main system with the Triton 2s. IF they sound terrible, I will use them for the back surround speakers in my 7.1 system, I think they have to be good enough for that.
If anybody has any knowledge of these amps, any experience, had a listen, please let me know. When I do get to hook them up and try them in a couple of months, I will post here to give my impressions.
Thanks, Wayne
