The Invisa series brochure states the following regarding the MPX speaker:

It combines two precisely angled spiderleg cast-basket 5" bass/midrange drivers, a High-Velocity Folded Ribbon Tweeter (HVFR™) and a complex precision crossover network with a high frequency equalization switch.

Yet that same brochure also list the following :

INVISA MPX MULTIPOLAR™ SPECIFICATIONS
Dimensions: 13-7/8" H x 7-1/4" W x 3-3/4" D. Cut-Out Dimensions: 12-3/4" H x 6-1/4" W.
Frequency Response: 25 Hz – 35 kHz. Sensitivity: 90 dB.
Nominal Impedance: Compatible with 8 ohms.
Driver Complement: Two 4-1/2" High-Definition Cast-Basket MVPP™ Bass/Midrange Drivers,
One HighVelocity Folded Ribbon Tweeter (HVFR™). Rec. Amp: 10 – 250 Watt/channel.

So which is it? 5" or 4-1/2" drivers. I'm guessing the latter (4.5") because the Invisa MPX Overview on the GE webpage also lists dual 4.5" bass/midrange drivers.

I can't help shake the feeling that 4.5" drivers will not be able to play at sufficiently loud levels to support modern movies at or slightly above Dolby reference level.

Hi, Ktoolsie

Errors in brochures aside, GEt speakers set at appropriate crossovers, can indeed play at Dolby reference levels. I have Invisa ceiling speakers that just love joining in, at 60-80 HZ crossover. None of the Invisa's were designed to be full range, main speakers... that's where the Triton towers or subs come in.

Can I ask what system and speakers you are considering setting up? I have had many combinations of GEt speakers, full range and small, and have yet to find a combination that doesn’t work wonders.

What are you planning to use for bass fill, full system?

Explore your GEt journey, it’s worth it!

Thanks for your input Rick. I'm slowly transitioning my home theater to utilize all GE products. I currently run a 7.1.2 set-up.

My fronts are GE Sevens, with an Aerial Acoustics CC3 performing center channel duties. it will be replaced with a GE SuperCenter XXL, around the end of the year. I have a pair of Invisa 650, installed in-ceiling as my Dolby Atmos speakers, configured in my Receiver as Top-Middle speakers.

I'm using 4 Phase Tech V Surround in a bi=polar configuration, mounted on walls as my rear and side surrounds. They will be the last phase of my transition plan, and the MPX is under consideration as their replacement. I'm concerned that the MPX is just too insubstantial a speaker to support high volume action movie watching, when things are going BOOM all over the place.

I'm not a big believer in published speaker spec's vs. just plain listening, but even on the spec. front, the Phase Tech's are rated at 60-20k HZ, the MPX's at 35-35k HZ. All I know for sure is that I've played the Invisa's pretty dang low HZ wise, and they just sing.

I guess I'd bet that the MPX's would just shine in that duty, crossed at say 60-80 HZ. Where do you cross the Phase Tech's?

What is your deeper bass source?

You're heading for a great system!!!!

Oh, and by the way, the Supercenter XXL plays center speaker duties like a champ.... clarity, gorgeous bass fill, you name it. Love that speaker!
