Hi,
I'm here to play devils advocate again!
I guess this question is really for the GE staff here, but feel free to chime in and especially if you have the INVISA series.
From the spec sheet, the INVISA 525, lets say the lowest model for argument sake, has Frequency Response of 27 Hz - 35 kHz, and then very quickly to the next models of 25 Hz - 35 kHz.
This in comparison, to the Aon 3: 38 Hz - 35 kHz
SuperCenter XL: 36 Hz - 35 kHz
SUPERSAT 60/60C: 50 Hz - 35 kHz
and even the TRITON FIVE: 26 Hz - 35 kHz
We are really able to compare them to the Triton Five here. So even without a sub unless we are trying to reach the lowest of lows. I'm sure real world performance we'll hear audible differences apart from Frequency Response alone, the sound stage, the clarity, but honestly, from this alone, it seems almost unbelieveable!
So my question is what makes the Invisa series so good, or are they really Triton 5 good?
Thanks
Po

Po,
Sorry, I don't have first hand experience or insider knowledge but I have done my homework on the Invisa series. What I have learned is:
1. Invisa series speakers use the same drivers, midrange and tweeters, as the other GET speakers and we all seem to like those.
2. The crossover networks on the speakers seem larger than any other ceiling or wall mounted speakers I have seen.
3. Industry reviews have been very positive and getting industry recognition for in-ceiling or in-wall speakers is not easy.
From what I've seen, the Invisa speakers, particularly the HTR-7000 seem to be a mounting system for the regular GET drivers. I think the T5 is going to be a step above the Invisa series speakers. There is only so much a ceiling or wall mounted speaker can do and I think these are a great solution for their application but a free standing tower or bookshelf speaker are likely to sound better. The design of an in-wall or in-ceiling speaker has limitations... Anyways, hopefully someone with first hand experience can chime in here. Mendoza recently installed a system with these speakers and seemed extremely pleased.
Cheers,
T Cobe

Thanks T Cobe, but what I was getting at is how come the Frequency Response is even better than say the Aon 3, upto the point it is closest to the Triton 5?
Thanks

Po,
This has been a hot topic on the forum and a point where I Can say I don't completely agree with the transparency of GET's published specs. The T5 was tested at 49 Hz at the -3 dB pointt which is great frequency response. The Triton Ones are around 30 Hz at the -3 dB point. I remember seeing the Aons up around the 80 Hz mark for the -3 dB point.
I would be shocked if a ceiling or wall mounted speaker, with minimal displacement, would be able to reach below 80 Hz at -3 dB. That said, frequency response alone is not a great indication of the sound of a speaker. My guess is that the only two speakers in the GET line that may sound better than the T5 are the T1s and the T2s.
This is subjective, of course but I don't think the Invisa speakers will be anywhere near the T1, T2, or T5. They are likely in the neighborhood of the Aon or SuperSat series. This is not a fault, but a limitation of the form factor. I think the fact that they use the same mid drivers and tweeters would make them a great match for the tone, timbre, and detail of other GET offerings and that's a feat in and of itself. Most manufacturers don't put that much into these form factors. Anyways, hopefully our friendly neighborhood Moderator can shed a little more light into your questions. If you're in the Bay Area, you may well have a dealer that has them on display. There is no substitute for a first hand demo!
Cheers,
T Cobe

T Cobe you made some very good points here!
Yes a listen would be great, if time permits.
Yes I have read the reviews, HThifi goes through in more detail, but Caleb Denison always seems such a fanboy of GE, and sure why not, not his fault GE has such a great line, but you really don't need any articles by him, simple put "GE review by Caleb Denison" and you know what's expected, my criticism of his reviews are they don't really go into much depth, but he is a GE evangelist!
I want the Juicy bits
