No problem! And, I should know that any internet forum isn't the most revealing of intentions (e.g., we can't observe social cues we normally take for granted). However, my offhand parenthetical comment about "speaker ceiling" wasn't made in isolation. It was in response to your comment on how "speaker ceiling" is improved, which led me to the comment. I know that may come across as incredibly basic or naive, and perhaps it is.

Without formal education on the matter, my knowledge on the general subject surrounding audio is an accumulation of tidbits of information over several years (and I have a sneaky suspicion that that is the case with the vast majority of paying customers as well). As a result, I may know a considerable amount more in some areas of audio/video than in others (so sometimes, I may demonstrate an embarrassing amount of ignorance in an area; other times, I may surprise—I don’t really care—I just enjoy the process of learning about it, so long as I don’t believe I’m irritating people with my inquiries).

There seems to be a general theme of “upgrade-itus” that permeates the forums on AVS. My reaction to owning these speakers for a little over half a year is the opposite. At least with respect to my GE’s, instead of “I want more,” my reaction has been, “How on earth do they do THAT???” With that said, if there’s room for discussion about music/movies, why not have an area on the forum where we can ask basic questions about the very speakers we own? Consider that last comment a gentle suggestion to put in the idea box for future mods to forum categories.

Hey, HTNUT1975

I'm glad you're part of the forum!!

Learning about audio systems in general, and how GEt speakers fit into that spectrum of ever expanding (especially digital) specialties and branches is indeed both fun and challenging. Where does one (GEt's speakers and their dependence on audio feeds) begin and the other (the whole world of burgeoning options on how best to feed those speakers) end? (I'm plowing through Floyd E. Toole's "Sound Reproduction" at the moment re speakers and rooms and "real" vs. "reproductions".)

I really enjoy your writing style! Hang in there with the rest of us. We're all learning as we go....

I really like and relate to your "How on Earth do they do THAT" comment re GEt speakers. I have to admit to being a bit on the side of upgradeitis, maybe a character fault. I do know I hear my gorgeous GEt speakers even now and ask what more I could possibly want....

I'm with you. If we can add to the features and options that we would love in future GEt speakers, then any thread that does that works for me.

Enjoy your speakers and system, and hang in there with the rest of us GEt lovers!!!

Rick

Yes sir...just about anything goes on this forum.
Just stay away from religion, politics, Pink Floyd, and banjos.

Thank you for the welcome! I have looked at ordering Floyd Toole's book, actually! I would have already ordered it, but the higher price along with the concern that it may get a little further into the weeds than I desire made me hit the pause button. I do have a sample on the Kindle that I plan on checking out. I recently ordered a umik microphone to start measuring my room to see how everything is responding with REW software. Thanks for the compliment! Your HT system in your signature looks awesome.

Thank you, sir! It will be very difficult to stay away from banjo talk, but I will give it my best.

I'm going to have to tap in here for an exception to Anthem's rules ... Pink Floyd is A-OK !!!
