Picked a set of these up today (a local dealer gave me a 14 day no-questions return policy). Assembly was very easy, and they are quite sturdy with the speakers mounted; though I didn't realize the base would be tempered glass. The appearance is, as I'd hoped, well executed with minimalistic style.
The top of the SS50 sits at about 4' off the floor, and the top of the tweeter is right at 3'. The center of the tweeter sits at a bit less than 35". This is a little shorter than my previous setup, but not so much so that it makes a difference when listening (likely due to the tweeters vertical dispersion).
For those that are curious - the mount is attached to the SS50 at two points: The threaded entry just below the banana plug connectors, and inside the cross-hair wall mount placed a bit further down.
The only real problem I had was in talking to three local dealers, where I got responses like this:
"I believe your thinking of the pedestal table-stands."
"They only make floor-stands for the SS3s."
"I can call the GE rep to see if they even make something like that."
The box says "Super Stand 50" - that may help anyone who's talking to an uninformed dealer. Anyhow, the stands are solid - I'll keep 'em.
