I was debating whether or not to get an MRX520 (demo model for $800), or a new Denon 3600h for $600 or a refurbished Marantz for $1,200. Denon and Marantz have tons of more features than the Anthem, but ARC is much better than Audyssey (so I've heard). Which one would you guys get? Thanks for the help!

Hi, rbull34

First, great choices on speakers!!!!

Good question, though you didn't say which refurbished Marantz you were looking at,
it would help if you described the exact model.
.
If you want any of the the added features the Marantz or Denon offer, that settles some of the question. Re base sound quality and reliability, I'd put the Marantz and Anthem a bit above the Denon, just my opinion. And, yes Anthem's ARC is better than Audyssey for sound correction with GEt speakers, especially with powered Tritons like the T2+'s you have purchased.

That's a good deal on the Anthem MRX 520!

If I were sitting in your place, I'd prefer the Anthem over the Denon, and would want more info on the model of refurbished Marantz being offered. All well respected receivers.

Thanks Rick...I'm looking forward to listening to my new system! I'm going to go with the Anthem. Now that I have that settled, I need a sub to go along with the speakers. Looking at a Ported SVS PB3000....any suggestions are welcomed!

Hi rbull34

I guess I'll repeat my recommendation from your other Post, try auditioning a Goldenear SuperSub. I haven't heard the SVS PB3000, but I have heard their top of the line PB16 Ultra, and I've heard Goldenear's SuperSub XXL, and I listen every day to my T Ref's, which have bass output equivalent to SuperSub XXL'S, and I can say without equivocation, that when Goldenear added the SuperSubs to their speaker lineup, they can play with the big boys! The XXL went toe to toe with the SVS 16, maybe had a bit more rafter shaker capability, and maybe just a tad less sub 20 HZ, but it's affect on shaking couches, and me, was greater! I've watched YouTube reviews comparing the two that say the same. That reviewer used both in his system.

I would venture that the SuperSub X, in the same price range as the SVS PB3000 you're considering, would also fare well.

AND the SuperSubs are perfectly matched to the other Goldenear speakers. My 100% Goldenear speaker system's sound field is absolutely seamless, close my eyes, and I wouldn't have a clue where the speakers are or which is contributing what, and I love it.
