Sandy has departed Goldenear

I wish him the best, and only hope the company remains true to his vision.

I read about this and am concerned about GoldenEar’s future. I have invested heavily in their products and they have now lost their creative direction. I have concern about the value of the product now too. Hopefully the people that worked with Sandy will step up.

Looks like you are already at the top of the chain with goldenear with triton references and ref center as well (like me) There isn't much further up the chain to go so I wouldn't worry about all that.

I have a feeling Sandy will sit out for a few years and come back with a new speaker company that releases a full out assault speaker that challenges uber expensive speakers for a much higher price than where goldenear were positioned but way lower than the Uber ones. Like something with a plasma tweeter that Sandy mentioned a few years ago in an interview.
Who knows but?

Things I would like to see from goldenear
A reference sub above the xxl
A version 2 htr7000 with reference quality tweeters etc (may be overkill and not needed for overhead duties)
Active variants of their speaker range

Apart from that there isn't much more to do without diversifying from their lineup like introducing headphones or something like that. Maybe Sandy felt he achieved all he needed to achieve here and has done a tip job in my book.

Goodluck Sandy and thanks for the great speakers !

Some very succinct "inside info" on this....

1) Bill Low essentially lied to Sandy as Sandy's input was basically disregarded
2) Product changes are likely to be concentrated on models that are not selling well. T Ref, R and 1 are *not* among them.
3) Product changes will likely be cosmetic and addition of bi-amp capability. No sound "improvements" expected.
4) Sandy leaving will not impact warranty and overarching product quality.

Thanks GDHAL. I expected as much when reading between the lines of his resignation letter. It is truly disappointing that this happened but not really unexpected. Sandy’s passion and vision were evident when I spoke with him and I wish him well.

This is a sad day indeed. He has had a passion and vision that is seldom rivalled. I can only hope he takes a much needed break and comes back at the speaker industry hard, just as he did when he launched GoldenEar Technology after departing Definitive Technology.

On a separate note, I can only hope that an on-wall version of the Invisa Signature Point Source is in the works or a true reference level SuperSat series. As a condo dweller, with limited space, who deeply cares about sound I'll keep my fingers crossed.

As much as I appreciate the GoldenEar subwoofer designs I'm hoping in their next iteration they incorporate room correction for those of us who would love to run 2.2 systems.
