Bought the SuperCinema 3D Array X Saturday to go with my SVS PC-2000 sub and Marantz NR-1504 receiver. I ran Audyssey which set the LCR speaker crossover to 150Hz but I manually dropped them to 120Hz. I kept the Audyssey speaker/sub distance settings and turned on the Dynamic volume to medium. I've read that Audyssey should not be used with the 3D Array but have also read a review where the reviewer used Audyssey to set the speaker distance/phasing and manually adjusted the crossover to 120Hz and set the Audyssey MultEQ setting to Audyssey Bypass L/R which does not optimize the frequency response in the L and R speakers.

Has anyone used this method or do you recommend a complete manual setup? I'm thinking I would use Audyssey for speaker/sub distance/phasing and then set the rest manually, no Audyssey enhancements.

I have no experience with the array so I cannot answer, but you can try things both ways, with and without Audyssey and see what sounds best to you.

Sandy of GoldenEar suggests that people not to use Audyssey MultEQ with the soundbar because it adversely reacts with the 3D Array technology and throws off the desired effect to cancel out this crosstalk distortion between the left and right channel. While the 3D Array effect sounds great with the speakers, I'm not happy with the bass response. I read on home theater hifi that the reviewer ran Audyssey to use the setting for my sub and turned off Audyssey for the LF/RF speakers in order to get the 3D Array effect from the FL/FR. Has anyone else done this?

I know this is an old thread, but this what I'm doing in my system.

I have the MultEq-XT on my Denon X3200 set to L/R Bypass. I noticed when I was listening to Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon on SACD that I accidentally had the Audyssey set to Reference. When I changed it back to L/R Bypass, it sounded much better. The front sound stage significantly expanded when I did this. I will run it like this for the duration.

Many of us feel the same about Audessey regardless of speaker model. I'm sure there are some instances where Audessey benefits sound reproduction but I always left it turned off. There are probably some rooms that really need room correction and the benefits outweigh the damage done.

I have found ARC by Anthem to be a far better solution for room correction. Some people report better results with Audessey if they run it a few times. Bottom line: trust your ears! I have read countless professional reviews that have touted the wares of Audessey.
