Would Aon 3 be a good HT speaker (vs. the GE Sound bar or on wall speakers) for sides inside an entertainment cabinet as shown below? They would fit and I could remove the books to give more room to breath.

I could then mate the Aons with a Super Center XL which would fit on the shelf of my stand (7 3/4" tall).

I am especially interested in voice matching the 65" TV as this is the family room for TV watching (have a 7.2 HT upstairs).

Not sure what you mean by voice-matching the TV. You’d be voice matching the Aon’s with the super-center, which is appropriate and doable. I’ve used bookshelf speakers in a bookshelf, but have always gotten better performance when placing them on free-standing pedestal stands. Either way, the Aon’s with a super-center will likely make you very happy. You will have to remove the books do to the Aon design, no option there.

SuperSat 50 surround rear L/R

SuperSub X front-right corner

Hi Vectra, welcome here and good questions!!!!
I agree with TimeCop, if you remove those books the Aon 3s will be fine and sound great. They would sound even better on good stands as he mentioned, but will work there. And with the SC XL you will have a great sounding threesome that voices perfectly together.
I would say go for it.
Enjoy, happy listening, and Merry Christmas,
God Bless,
Wayne

Thanks! You addressed the question. I knew the sound would be better on a stand vs. in a shelf but if I remove the books it seems I have a workable solution. One day I can swap the furniture.

I think the 3 speaker setup will be great. When two people are talking I want to perceive the voices as coming from the screen and shift back and forth as the person on what side talks to the person on the other side.

I think this would be better than the sound bar.

I have been listening to T3+ at my neighbors and just love the sound....especially that it isn't harsh.

Vectra:
Your cabinet picture isn't displaying properly. In regards to the Aon 3's in a cabinet, yes, they would do quite well, as would the Aon 2's and the SS3's (on their stands). Keep us posted as to your decision.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Every great performance deserves an Audience!
