I have some elbowroom to upgrade my current office system.

I have to ask, in a surround based system. Will the Aon2 (especially if mounted closer to the wall on a shelf or articulating mount) would it be only marginally better or a LOT better than my SS3's I am currently running in the front. I will probably have it in surround mode almost all the time. I listen to music when I am editing but also love the idea of having full surround when playing my games. (The SS3's would go to surround duty if I got the Aon2's.

Most of you have heard my very wide taste in music.

So properly dialed in with my FF3 sub, would I notice a difference between these units in a surround system?

Roman,

I think you would notice a difference but you should go and demo the Aons first hand versus the SS3s. In particular, you should be able to set a lower crossover and let the Aons handle a little more of the music. To me, that always sound more natural in my system, but I have my subs about 5dB hot. I think we've agreed before that we're really talking about different degrees of good. You already love the SS3s in your setup, it's really your call if the Aons bring enough to the party to justify the added expense.

I really loved my Aon 3s when I had them setup in my theater as the left and right speakers. They were the best sounding bookshelf speakers I've ever had. Maybe your dealer would even let you take a pair home with a credit card deposit to see how you like the sound. Let us know what you find.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Hey Roman, you do have quite the taste in music. I definitely believe the Aon 2s are a step up, but the Aon 3s are even more so.
As T. Cobe suggested, try to audition them.
All the best,

I think that would depend on where your subwoofer is placed.

The lower you are able to crossover to the subwoofer, the less localized that subwoofer will sound. If your sub is between your speakers, then it might integrate well enough that the localization won't matter, but if your sub is off to one side then being able to lower the crossover with the Aons will greatly reduce the distraction that a single subwoofer with a high crossover causes.
