Is there any plan to upgrade the Aon 3 with the new crossover treatment and drivers that the Triton Two+ and Triton Tree+
got?

Not yet.... would require a rather significant price change compared to the Triton PLUS models, so Sandy and the engineering team are still contemplating.

I have a small den system with Aon 3's and a sub. I don't have room for floor standers so I would be willing to pay the extra cash for the best bookshelf speakers I could get. I could then move this pair for surround duty.

Other members please chime in. Is there a demand for bookshelf speakers in the $1,500-$2,000 range?

wweiss,

I would love to have the balanced crossovers in the Aon 3s. I'm not sure that would bump the price up quite that much. The T5s are about $1,000 each and they are much larger, have more drivers, and the balanced crossovers. In any case, I'm with you on the improvement! I already love them but the balanced crossovers would (hyperbole warning) lift another veil and make them that much better. Even if they don't, I'll be buying another pair.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Just my two cents, I'd rather see a new model if you're going to move the price point up a decent amount. I've already take a playful jab at Sandy's model naming convention. If he had made the Aon 3 the lowest model, and the Aon 2 above that, there'd be room for an Aon 1 flagship bookshelf and it would mirror the tower naming convention.

Under the current naming convention you could make an Aon 4 with better sonics and some design elements from the Triton 1/5/+ models.

I'm following Imahawki. How about a Aon with the same basic set up as the SuperCenterXXL. A 2.5 way design with the HVFR, a mid range driver, and another driver for below 500 Hz. 3 drivers is all with a balanced crossover. Now that would be something. ;)

Moderator Dude, that idea is free of charge. Maybe we can call it the Aon T Cobe or Aon T for short.
