Hi everyone. I'd like to solicit some feedback please from my GoldenEar phriends.

If GoldenEar manufactured noise cancelling headphones, I wouldn't make this post as it would a no brainer I'd just buy it. Seeing that they don't I have some questions.

Do noise cancelling headphones "work". Meaning can they effectively reduce or eliminate external noise?

What brand(s) is recommended? Assume very good quality, not necessarily a reference pair.

Does the blue tooth wireless option "work" as good or better than wired? I have one headphone jack out of my Oppo UDP205. I'm wanting something that can be used sparingly when my Triton Reference's are asleep late at night or asleep because an air conditioner is running and is too loud.

Thanks everyone.

I'm surprised there are no recommendations or comments as to whether or not noise cancelling truly "works" and which headphones are preferred?

No idea, never tried them, don't sound like a good idea.
In ear monitors, especially custom ones are the BOMB and eliminate almost all noise.

From the reviews I've read, they work well to cancel out extraneous sound. The technology definitely works, even car manufacturers are experimenting with using it to minimize road noise.

BUT, per a PC Mag review I had read, because the speakers are being tasked to take on extra duty doing noise cancellation, audio sound quality may take a hit.

I don't have noise canceling headphones, never tried them. My SONY over ear closed back MDR1A's seem to do a pretty good job over riding extraneous external noise also, like Wayne's iem's.

I can't speak for GEt's efforts re headphones, but if they produce a headphone, I would buy a non noise cancelling over ear one in a heartbeat. :)

If you do get the PSB headphones, please give us a review, especially vs. the SQ you obviously get from your Ref's!

Thanks!
