I just got a pair of Triton 7s and am not very pleased with the low end response for certain types of music and home theater. I use this system mostly for music but do occasionally watch movies on it. I have a Onkyo NR-807 for my receiver/amp and an Onkyo 300 watt sub with surround kit as well.

i'm considering returning the T7s to get a pair of Triton 2s or picking up a ForceField 4. Would you say that the Triton 2s with no sub is going to be a nicer setup than just adding a FF4? I'm guessing I could still use the home theater in a box speakers and sub for movies (moving the fronts to wides or highs).

The Triton 7s are awesome speakers in their own right, but they are not great at reproducing the lower frequencies. For home theater you will need a sub, and the ForceField 4 should be excellent with them. I love the Triton 2s, they are great speakers too. And for just listening to music, I very much recommend the 2s over the 7s, if you like bass. I love bass.
But even the Triton 2s, for home theater, IMHO and in my home theater, need a sub. I have the FF5 playing with the T2s.
I would suggest listening if you can, but I am sure you will not go wrong with adding the FF4 sub with the Triton 7s.

Something is wrong with your setup, ask the dealer for assistance. The Triton Seven has plenty of bass for music playback in a normal size room at normal volumes. If yours don't, something is wrong in your setup, guaranteed. Movie playback should include an outboard sub and appropriate bass management settings.

But, I am confused - you say you have an outboard sub (Onkyo, really?) - if so, isn't that being used for movie bass?

I have the triton twos in my theater, no sub, and they do a excellent job!!! My room is just over 3,000 cubic feet and the built in subs have enough powers to make my whole room shake.
