Thanks for the kind words DT.
So glad you are enjoying the Strauss. I used to have this in my car and let me tell you, after a few speeding tickets, this is NOT music to drive to! ha ha
Yes, I am familiar with MFSL and I agree, it must be a better version than the usual red-book and probably better than that SACD I have too.
I would not pay that much extra either.
Then again, those programs that create a synthesized surround sound out of stereo will probably not sound that great either.
The Oppo is a great way to go. I have a couple of them and cannot recommend them more highly. They are like GoldenEar, you get LOTS for your money!!!!
Enjoy, and keep us informed, please.
God Bless, Wayne

Beautiful day last Saturday so took a ride to my local GE dealer in Independence, Missouri and picked up the SCXXL. Still breaking it in but sound definitely improved over the Martin Logan ElectroMotion C2 speaker it replaced.

The center is powered by Denon AVR-3805 until new Emotiva XPA Gen3 three channel amp on order arrives. This new amp will power the LCR including the Triton ones currently powered by Crown XLS 1502 v2. The crown will then be relegated to power the surround DCM TF-600s until it is replaced by 4 channel XPA Gen3 amp along with surround and rear GE speakers TBD. Leaning towards Triton 2+, 3+, or 5 for surrounds and Aon 3s for rears on 7.1.
Spkrs: GE Triton One L/R, GE SCXXL Center, GE Triton 2+ Surrs, DCM TF600 Rears
Pre pro: Emotiva XMC-1, PS Audio NuWave Phono Converter
Amps: Emotiva Gen3(2) 3-Chan LCR, 4-Chan Surr&Rears
Sources: Oppo BDP-105, ClearAudio Concept TT with MM Cartridge
Display: Vizio SmartCast P55-C1 Ultra HD HDR LCD

Hi, eiffel62

Congratulations on the SCXXL! They are amazing. I have mine at 60 HZ crossover right now, and the clarity and bass just continue to impress. Sometimes I just walk up to the SCXXL when it's playing to re-remind me how much it adds to the sound field.

Re surrounds: I moved T2's to the surrounds when I purchased T1's for fronts. Having all GEt speakers is an objective in itself. Speaker locations "disappear", and all you are left with with is this envelope of perfectly integrated sound. It's just THERE.
I've not heard the T2+'s, but I can tell you that the T2's as surrounds do everything I could want. The "meat" is there for movie 5.1. (like tank cannons firing in back), or for 5.1 music, or for multi-channel stereo (I just love love multi-channel stereo music played through T1's, T2's and SCXXL). The added bass from the T2's really balances things. I'd say you can't go wrong with T2+'s, T3+'s or T5's as surrounds. They all have the new crossover technology. It depends on how much bass presence you want to add. Nothing beats a "test drive".

Happy listening and good luck!

Rick

Eiffel62,

Congrats on the SCXXL and the XPA Gen 3! You're an early adopter of the new Gen 3, I'd love to hear your impressions on the new XPA 3 when it arrives. I'm considering a new 4 or 5 channel XPA for Atmos but I'm not sold on the Gen 3 yet. At this point I'll say I'm cautiously optimistic. Hopefully the sound improvement will be commensurate with the price increase.

Cheers,

T Cobe
