Anthem,
Twisted Sister? Now that's funny! You dug deep into the recesses of your memory of the 80s on that one. I always though their lead singer looked like somebody's grandfather dressed up as a rock star for Halloween. I quess their music seemed just as disingenuous. If we're sticking with the same era and genre, it would be more like AC/DC, Motley Crue, Van Halen, and Guns and Roses.
I was all over the board even in the 80s. Rock, hip hop, new wave, punk rock, R&B, pop, etc, etc. You never know what I'll be playing (but it won't be Twisted Sister). Variety is the spice of life and there is far too much out there to narrow it down to just one genre, IMO. To each their own.
Wayne,
I'll definitely listen to side B. I'm no quitter! I will admit that I found the album relaxing except for the alarm clock and bells bit. Yesterday was a bad day and coming home to spin DSOTM ramped me down before the wife got home. That's a definite plus.
Cheers,
T Cobe

Hey, Anthem
I inadvertently posted a SCXXL question on the SSXXL thread. I'm sure there's a way to copy/paste/move the post without leaving a blank post.. haven't figured that out yet, so I'll re-ask the question here:
How is your new SCXXL working out for you? I know you've tried it in multiple modes, and made adjustments in your set-up.
Any feedback appreciated!
Happy listening!
Rick

Hey Rick
Thanks for asking. I can easily say that the SCXXL is the best Center I have owned thus far. This morning I was playing Kirk Whalum, using just the SCXXL. The Clarity of each instrument is almost eerie. There is a lushness and musical rightness in each and every song. Musically, brilliance in the 6khz to 16khz is almost nonexistent. Highs are very delicate and without peaks. With music, I could listen to the SCXXL (by itself) all day long and not feel as though I'm really missing anything...I would love to hear 2 SCXXL's in a 2-channel setup.
When listening to the SCXXL in music mode I'm using the Decware Torii, Cambridge Audio Azur 840C cd player, Anti-Cable Reference 3 powercords, AC Level 6.2 Absolute Signature Interconnects, and Clarity Speaker wire.
Now as a center channel in my HT setup, I'm still experiencing some sibilance (both male & female). I'll admit I like action-packed movies loud, maybe to loud, and that's where the SCXXL starts sounding stressed. The other day when watching Kung-fu Panda, I was within 2db of Reference Volume...and man did she sound great. Now I don't listen at those volumes all the time (probably wouldn't have any hearing left) and on a average day I listen in the -15 to -20 range. I have not run ARC on the Anthem d2v because it's to complicated, and I think this is where my sibilance problem could be tamed. As the winter months go by I'll have the guys from Wichita stop by and see if they can fix me up.
When listening to the SCXXL in HT mode I'm using the Anthem Statement d2v, Oppo 105, Emotiva xpa -1 monoblock, Audioquest cheetah XLR Interconnect, Venom 3 and Emotiva PC's, Military Silver/Copper speaker wire.
Don't worry...I love my SCXXL...if you want it, you'll have to pry it out of my cold, dead hands.

Thanks, Anthem!
Great report! I'm SO glad you are enjoying the SCXXL!!! That baby is sure getting fed by some fantastic gear. As you say, in HT mode/duty, some re-running of ARC to fine tune the settings vs. the current ARC settings, (reflecting probably some adjustments for the prior center channel speaker?), may help resolve any remaining issues re sibilance in HT duty.
I continue to enjoy my SCXXL. I've played some more with crossover settings, varying between 40, 60 and 80 HZ. It seems completely comfortable anywhere in that range (I would be concerned about headroom at really high SL's at 40 HZ). Even at 80 HZ, the bass from that speaker is impressive! Dialogue clarity is fine at any of those settings. I've got it at 80 HZ for now. The bass and SQ handoff between the SCXXl and the T1's is completely seamless. The sound field doesn't miss a beat.... 60 HZ, 80 HZ, I can't really tell where the contribution of the SCXXL ends and that of the towers begins. Teamwork!
I'll bet you get any remaining sibilance in HT mode tamed. Anthem d2v, OPPO 105, Emotiva xpa-1... real thoroughbreds feeding it.
Continued happy listening! Enjoy your fantastic system(s) and fantastic music and A/V collection!!
