Hi guys, here is a quick question, probably for my favorite Moderator Dude:
Are the 5 1/4 inch midrange/woofers in the SC X the same as they are in the Triton 7s?
Will be checking this baby out soon, when I can get it home.
Just wondering?
Thanks and God Bless,
Wayne

Wow, I had no idea I was your favorite. :)

The answer is, not exactly ... actually more similar to the Triton One drivers as they utilize the MVPP design. The Seven's drivers are unique because they are a full range design, the SuperCenter and Triton One drivers are not, as they are crossed over (or intended to be crossed over) to a subwoofer.

Thanks Moderator Dude,
Got it, that makes sense. Do you guys recommend crossing over the SC X in a home theater setup at 80 Hz? I ask because I have been listening and it easily plays MUCH deeper than that. I tried crossing it over at 40 Hz and still could not believe how strong/well it was playing on the bottom end. Sounded great.
IF you can stand a second quick question, where do you recommend crossing it over?

AND, of course you are my favorite Moderator Dude, in fact you are my only Moderator. (oops, did that spoil the compliment?)
And having a 14 year old daughter entering her teen years, I could actually use a Moderator MUCH more often!!!!! Are you available????
Thanks and God Bless,
Wayne

GET A ROOM ;)
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

Hi Wayne, in answer to your questions:

1) Yes, we do suggest an 80Hz crossover. We feel that dialog intelligibility, overall dynamics and playing ceiling will be best with an 80Hz crossover - lower distortion too. You can go lower, of course;
2) Yes, it is very full range and can be used that way in a modest no-subwoofer system with Aons or Triton Sevens;
3) Yes, you spoiled the compliment;
4) Sorry, I only know about sons, I understand daughters are MUCH more difficult. You're on your own - HiFi, yes, teenage daughters, no way.
