Your specs say 20-500 watts for the Triton Twos. Why such a big range?? Since they've got a powered sub built in, why would anyone need 500 watts?

Unlike most speakers in their class, the Tritons are uber-efficient (can be comfortably driven by 12 watt SET amps) AND handle huge amounts of power. Why would anyone want that much power? Why would anyone want a Ferrari? :)

so you are saying that a tweeter and a couple midrange drivers can actually make use of 500 watts??

Sure they would. Now, would you actually hear a difference at lower volumes? Probably not, but if you like listening at ear bleeding volumes, the extra headroom that more power offers you, will ensure that you won't be lacking power, which could cause clipping and potentially damage your speakers.

The Tritons are so efficient, personally I would never feel the need to drive them with more than 200w, but that's just me, but if I could afford to go bigger, I probably would.
Right now I am driving them with a dedicated 2x125w Amp. and am quite happy, but I never get crazy with the volume either.

Cheers,
