Hi, pairing a benchmark AHB2 with the triton reference speakers and I'm wondering how I should think about wattage for these speakers given the stated impedance of "Nominal Impedance: 4Ω (Compatible with 8Ω))" they give figures for how much wattage the amp can provide at 4 and 8Ω but the triton reference specs say it's 4 but also possibly 8Ω. Is there a setting to pick one over the other or how should I think about this?

Hello gd232. I'm not sure what your concern is. You have a terrific amp (and speakers). In fact, your amp specs indicate "Select loads based on nominal impedances not minimum impedances. The AHB2 is stable into all loads.". Seems to me no matter what you do you can't go wrong.

p.s. just curious....is the "gd" portion of your username meant to indicate Grateful Dead?

Thanks and yep! Mostly I just want to understand what the actual technical answer is on what the impedance is and how many watts are going through

You're over thinking this. You correctly point out that the T Ref impedance spec is "Nominal 4Ω (Compatible with 8Ω)". Your statement "how many watts are going through" would be dependent upon - among other variables - how you position the volume/gain control on your amplifier. Again, I'm not sure what your concern is.

Because you're a Grateful Dead head, certainly you realize there "ain't no easy answers".

You may be interested in visiting my website (see my signature line and follow the links to the Grateful Dead page). If you're a collector as I am, and if you trade music, I offer three for one. Meaning, if you have any show that I do not have - which is nearly impossible - and you trade in digital format - I will provide you with three shows for each one you can provide me with. I make this offer because I understand the difficulty involved for you or anyone else to be able to determine what it is that I do not have.
