The Triton Refernce has as auto on feature that is supposed to power up the speakers when it gets a signal and auto power off after about 25 minutes of no signal. That all works fine on my speakers, however when I am running my sound bar/woofer with my TV (that is not in anyway connected to my 2 channel stereo) it will cause the speakers to power up when there is a strong bass sound. This happens more frequently with the right speaker as it is closer to the (wireless) sub woofer. Is it the vibration that is causing this or is there some sort of signal bleed into the speaker?

Called GoldenEar and got a response. It is movement in the passive mid cones that create a signal to power up the subwoofer amp. So the sub from my soundbar is creating enough pressure to move those mid drivers and power up the speakers.

Now I am not so sure of the answer I received. When I power up my amp the speakers immediately power up as well with no movement in the drivers. Sure would be nice to know exactly what circuit/switch/design actually causes the auto power on.

I think the internal circuit in the speaker detects the signal from the amp (which can have a small DC offset) and then powers up. So it's not surprising. I leave my amps on all the time, but I do believe that when I power them up, the speakers power up too.

So we are back to my original question - if it is an electrical signal what is making the speakers power up with a strong bass from a completely discrete setup?

For the record my two channel system is GoldenEar Triton Reference speakers, Pass Labs INT 250 amp, Oppo BDP105 source, Synergistic Research Foundation inter-connect, Synergist Reasearch Atmosphere X Alive speaker cables, AudioQuest NRG-Z3 power cord, and Furutech e-TP66 power distribution. My AV system is an LG OLED65CX TV and LG SN9YG soundbar with bluetooth subwoofer. I ran two dediacted power lines from the service box to the system with one line for the speakers and one line for all the rest.
