I would probably guess that the 2's are quite better than the 5's when it comes to bass performance. I'd say as a general rule, the way they have these numbered is exactly how they want them to stack up against each other. However, when you start mixing and matching force field subwoofers into the passive speakers, with the right bass management setup, I wouldn't be surprised if you cannot get really close to the powered ones. With the exception of the T1s, which I've been told, are really in a league of their own.

(2) Sat 50s - rear
(2) DIY 18" Stereo Integrity subs, 1100w each
