Maybe subjective thought here but I demo'ed triton 2 and 3 at the dealer and compared to B&W 683. They both sounded much better with similar equipment. Was thinking of getting triton 2 but ended up buying triton 3, as I thought 3 sounded big enough (reference 683). Been at home for about 2 weeks, was hoping it will be through breakin period and start sounding bigger. It is still not sounding as fuller/bigger as I heard at the dealer.

Did I make a mistake of buying the smaller version? Does anyone know if there is a return policy on triton 3?

BTW I am in Atlanta area and am using Marantz sr6006 receiver.

Shan435,
Pardon the obvious question, but how big is your room? Is it much bigger than where you auditioned the Triton 3s?
Secondly, have you checked that everything is set up right? As to the Marantz, there may be some setting that is holding them back. I do not know that piece of equipment, but does it run Audessy (sp)? If so, turn it off and try it without, just to check the speakers.
Your dealer might give you a trade in, never hurts to ask. Wish I was there to take the Triton 3s off your hands, I think they are a great speaker.
All the best, enjoy the ride, this Hi Fi stuff is supposed to be fun!!!!!

Wayne is on the right path - I'd be concerned about a setting issue on the receiver. Unless the room is HUGE, the Triton Three should make oodles of bass. I presume you've already confirmed both speaker's bass sections are functioning?

Also, are you sure you are not listening in a null? Walk around the room, is there more bass in other areas of the room? If so, you will probably need to play around with placement.

Wayne,

Thanks for your offer Wayne. I am not yet ready to give up my Tritons :cheer:

I did try different settings on my Marantz and even did A/B with old / much cheaper speakers. Triton is offcourse much better just not as big. You are right, this Marantz has Audessey and I used it and turned it off also. I will try with placement and furniture arrangement and I did confirm I was not in a hole. Let me keep working this. Its just 2-3 weeks old so maybe dealer will swap for triton 2s as I like the sound quality, just the impression of big is missing.

Thanks for your help - appreciate your taking time. I will keep working this and possibly reach out to dealer.

Dear Moderator, Thanks for your response. I checked all possible settings and even checked Marantz forums for any miss. Tried Audessey and without. I confirmed today I am not in a hole. Room is surely big 15 * 25 and high ceiling - maybe that is why. In that case I think I may have made wrong choice by trying to save some money getting Triton 3s instead of 2s. Regardless, I was so excited and wanted to love this after my dealer auditions, I do like them and they are nice but not mind blowing like I thought.

One thing I had checked was the receiver they had used - they had a receiver (Pioneer though) with similar power as mine.

I am trying moving around furniture and rearranging location of speakers over next day or so to see if that helps.

Thanks for your (and Wayne's) help. This is a very civil forum and offcourse speakers are nice - love the helpful attitude. You all are great.

Shan

You're very welcome. That is a pretty big room so you may be correct - do you have them spread fairly far apart and toed-in towards the center? That helps produce a big soundstage. Are there any boundaries (walls) around (behind and to the side of) the speakers - the speaker produces more bass if there are boundaries around it (but not too close of course).
