Moderator Dude,
With your permission, Ids like to see a new topic/thread about upmixing 2.0 to whatever one's HT system and receiver can accomodate.
I've been listening to multi channel music for a long time, just love the surround ambience.. (Most automotive audio systems do the same
).Know others on the forum do the same.
Anyway, I've progressed from multi channel upmix that basically sent stereo signals to the L/R channels and a mix to the center and nothing to the height channels, to the new Dolby Atmos Surround option that includes the height channels, and apportions sounds to channels to mimic concert hall effects. And I love it!!!
I'd love to converse with other folks doing similar things about what works for them, and music that just blossoms in that format. And that includes native 5.0 or 5.1 formats.
Just can't shut off all those other gorgeous speakers when playing 2 channel music
What's playing, working for folks?
Some 2.0 things I've upmixed that just blow me away: "You Are" by Lionel Richie (the 9 channels just surround me with gorgeous sound and BASS!), Fleetwood Mac's Rhiannon, etc. etc. It's like being in a concert hall!!
And when playing 5.0 or 5.1 surround also upmixed to 9 channels with heights included via Dolby surround... well, even better. My standard right now is a Monster Music 5.0 recording of Ray Charles labeled Genius Loves Company, which I play via the Oppo (there is also a CD version, but it pales some vs. the 5.0),. First song on the track is Ray and Norah Jones singing Here We Go Again. Butter! Smooth! Perfect! A reference recording!
What's happening in the world of surround music, folks!
Rick
