Why aren't the T2'S set up? Have they been broken in for 50-100 hours? That helps a lot.

1) Pull the drapes closed on the left cluster of windows.
2) The window behind the right speaker needs to be addressed (pleated shade etc.)
3) Is that a hard surface floor? Put an area rug on it, like an oriental.
4) Can the speakers be pulled out into the room more, away from the front wall? They are so close to the tv screen, which can cause brightness
5) Experiment with your homemade acoustic panels, especially the first reflection point on the side walls

they have been broken in for around 30 hours

1) When I listen i pull the drapes

2) I have not been thinking about this window because it's behind the speaker. There is only a roller blind, is that good enough?.

3) I have a carpet thats cover 90% of the floor

4) It's a little hard to see on the picture but they are around 40cm in front of the TV.

5) I will do that

Thanks for your suggestions. I really appreciate that you have taken the time to write it down.

Do you think that my room can make the speakers sound so bad in the midrange? My old speakers dont have the same problem.

Maybe it's because the Triton 2+ has more mid/treble energy?

I really don't know the answer to your question without being there. Try the things i mentioned, and if that doesn't help, give your dealer a call. He should be more than happy to send someone out to assess the situation.

In my experience with both the Original T2'S and the T Refs, the midrange/tweeter is not aggressive. It's always the room or associated equipment.

Martin,

One possibility is that your Marantz Pre/Pro is using Audyssey to compensate based on your previous speakers or different positions. Any change to room treatment, speaker position, listener position, or speaker type will require a new calibration for best performance.

I would suggest disabling Audyssey or recalibrating and see if that makes a difference.

Yes, TURN OFF AUDYSSEY and all other audio processing items (like Dolby volume, etc.). Sandy's Setup Tips specifically mentions NOT to use auto EQ systems until after everything has been setup manually and the speakers have been broken in with many hours of listening time. And then, only if there is a perceived need to address some room issue, should the auto room EQ be run.

Sounds like quite a quandary you're in. I feel your pain. I don't think you'll ever hear the T2'S full potential until you get them broken in. My T2'S & T Refs took 75 hrs before i was totally comfortable with their sound.

Just to experiment a little -- pull them out into the listening room 1-3 feet. Toe them in towards your ears and experiment with back tilt and front tilt. I use back spikes, but no front spikes.

Believe me, you're not the first with this problem. In due time, everything will come together, and you will be richly rewarded with the Amazing GEt sound.

One day at a time...
