Glad you are enjoying the system, I think we all happily agree with your comment that "it is really difficult to make these speakers sound bad". :)

Regarding scenario 2, with the Aons full range and the sub set at about 50Hz you are going to have pretty significant overlap from the L/R mains and the sub - and maybe a little gap between the sub and the center. Trying to reduce this with sub crossover and level has probably lead to the less than exciting movie bass. I know you've tried a lot of things, but I would suggest a revisit to bass management, with Audyssey off for the moment, to try and get a better blend and appropriate bass impact for movies. If that messes up your stereo listening (sounds like it won't because you mentioned you tried multiple crossover frequencies without issue in Stereo mode) maybe you can find a good middle ground.

In general, with a home theater system with outboard sub(s), getting good movie bass will require the sub get all the channels' bass below 80Hz plus LFE. You may find you need to dial the sub up a few dB for movies and back down for stereo (I presume your Integra can do that with its remote), and if you can't find a level where the sub doesn't intrude on the music with this setting, you need a better sub (I have a few suggestions).

A lot of gear these days allows for multiple setup options by input or mode, to address the desire for different settings (or just different sub levels) for music vs. movie playback. In response to exactly what you are finding.

Brand new 90 amp panel for the home theater! My components were hungry and there was no way I was going to be able to add Tritons or additional amplification without more power. I think I'm ready for just about any sane upgrades into the foreseeable future.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Well, after weeks and weeks of talk and repeated visits to my local dealer, I've finally ordered my Triton Ones! I look forward to sharing my impressions and pictures when they are in their proper place. It's going to be a LONG week. Hopefully the T1s are in stock and shipping next day!

Cheers,

T Cobe

Got the Triton Ones installed tonight and moved the Aon 3 s to the surround channels. The sound field is now much more cohesive. I plan to let the T1s break in and continue to tweak my settings to find the right balance. So far, I definitely find that I have much better bass with the use of the LFE inputs. The detail and depth of my front sound stage are dramatically better!

Cheers,

T Cobe
